Delta Executor Roblox Upgrade Error and Error 280 Fix

Last updated: By Delta Executor Team 8 min read

The Delta Executor Roblox upgrade error and Error 280 share one cause: your Delta build is older than the Roblox version that Roblox's servers accept today. The fix is to install the Delta build whose number matches Roblox's current build. A store update, clearing data or moving to Roblox VNG won't close that gap, and the version table below shows which numbers must line up.

Why Does Delta Show the Roblox Upgrade Error?

Delta shows the upgrade error because Roblox released a newer app build and its servers stopped accepting the older one Delta copies. Your phone, key and account are fine.

Both Delta apps carry a full copy of Roblox with Delta's code added, which is how most mobile Roblox executors work. That copy is frozen at one Roblox version, and Delta's version number copies the Roblox build it was made from. On Android the disguise goes further: the Delta APK installs under Roblox's own package name and puts an icon called "Roblox" on the home screen. When Roblox ships its next build, the frozen copy falls one build behind and the servers turn it away in one of two places:

  • The upgrade prompt when the app opens. Roblox's store app on Android says "Your version of Roblox is out of date and will not work properly. Taking you to the Google Play Store for an upgrade." Delta's version of this screen is simply called the upgrade message.
  • Error 280 when you join a game. Roblox Help titles it "Your version of Roblox may be out of date. Please update Roblox and try again." and says it occurs when there is an issue with the Roblox version running on your device.

Both are version checks, not anti-cheat detection, which is why the error returns after every Roblox release.

Does Your Delta Version Match Roblox?

Delta works again once the middle group of digits in its version number matches Roblox's current build. In a build written as 2.XXX.YYYY, compare the XXX part.

Builds as of 22 October 2026

AppAndroidiPhone (iOS)
Roblox (global)2.744.10812.743.1136
Delta Executor2.7432.743
Roblox VNG (Vietnam)Updated on Google Play 16 Oct 2026 (latest known build 2.741.1061)2.742.1053 (released 16 Oct 2026)

If Delta's middle number is lower, the prompt is expected and only a newer Delta build clears it. The latest Delta download box shows the version of every file, so you can confirm the number before installing. The three most recent gaps show the pattern:

PeriodRoblox buildNewest Delta buildWhat happened
About 10 to 22 Sep 20262.7382.737 Lite"Out of date" and Error 280
7 Oct (iOS) and 9 Oct (Android) to 15 Oct 20262.742 (Android 2.742.1059, iOS 2.742.1053)2.741Upgrade prompts from 12 Oct, many on iPhone; no Delta 2.742 on the developer's site
15 to 20 Oct 20262.743 (iOS 2.743.1134, Android 2.743.1136)2.741Delta two builds behind; the developer's page still offered only Delta-2.741.1062.ipa on 16 Oct
From 20 Oct 20262.7432.743 on Android, 2.741 on iPhoneAndroid and PC caught up (APK carries 2.743.1136); iPhone still two builds behind

No catch-up time is promised. Recent gaps lasted from about zero days to 11 on Android (9 to 20 Oct 2026), and Roblox 2.742 was replaced before any Delta 2.742 appeared, so Delta went straight from 2.741 to 2.743. A gap can skip a whole build.

How to Fix the Delta Executor Roblox Upgrade Error

The right fix depends on what you see and where, because a store update that repairs normal Roblox does nothing for Delta.

What you seeCauseWhat to doWhat not to do
Upgrade prompt or Error 280 inside DeltaDelta is older than RobloxInstall the matching Delta buildEdit the version number
The prompt's button opens Google PlayIt points to the store's Roblox, not to DeltaClose the store page and wait for DeltaExpect that page to update Delta

If Delta opens without a prompt but scripts never attach, the Delta not injecting fix covers that separate problem.

How to Upgrade Delta Executor

Upgrading Delta means installing the next build once the developer releases it. Android lays the new file over the old one only when the same certificate signs both and the new one carries a higher version. If Android refuses the update, remove the old build first.

  1. Watch the announcements channel in the Delta Executor Discord. If other parts of Delta fail too, check whether Delta is down or only out of date.
  2. Compare the new build's number with the Roblox row in the version table.
  3. When the middle numbers match, install it and reopen Delta. If the key page then rejects you, the Delta key not working guide matches each message to its fix.

Updated Roblox From the Play Store or App Store

A store update only changes the store's own Roblox app. Delta's built-in copy keeps its old version, so the error stays.

  • Android: Google's app signing documentation says the system accepts an update only when the new and old certificates match. Delta and Play Store Roblox claim the same package name under different signers, so Google Play can't refresh Delta's copy. A Delta APK also can't land on top of store Roblox. That is why the official Roblox app has to come off the phone before you install Delta. If Android still rejects the new file, the "App not installed" fix explains each message.
  • iPhone: Delta is a separate app with its own app ID, so App Store updates to Roblox never reach it. The steps for installing the newer IPA sit in the guide to Delta on iPhone and iPad.

Roblox Error 280 Fix Without Delta

When the normal store app shows Error 280 without Delta, Roblox's Error 280 help article lists the same five checks for iPhone and Android:

  1. Power the phone off, give it about 30 seconds, then switch it back on.
  2. Force close Roblox and open it again.
  3. Delete Roblox and reinstall it from your app store.
  4. Check that your phone's date and time are correct.
  5. Try another internet connection, such as mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.

What Is Delta Executor VNG?

Delta VNG was a Delta build made for Roblox VNG, the Vietnam edition of Roblox that VNGGames Co., Ltd has published on Android and iOS since August 2024. It was meant only for VNG-locked accounts, and the "App not available in your region" error comes from that lock.

Roblox VNG runs its own build numbers, which usually trail global Roblox by about one build, as the VNG row in the version table shows. In early October Roblox VNG and Delta were both on 2.741, yet a shared number does not mean Delta runs on VNG.

Is There a Delta VNG APK Download?

Not a current one. The developer's Android VN page now loads the normal Android page, and Delta no longer supports VNG. An older VN build existed, but for a long-retired Roblox version.

The "Delta VNG APK" files on video channels and file hosts are third-party uploads, so skip them.

Should You Switch to Roblox VNG Instead?

No. Roblox's VNG FAQ says that after your first login to the VNG app you can no longer use the global Roblox app. Your data and Robux move with you. The same FAQ says VNG players can still join players outside Vietnam, so switching gains Delta nothing and the version gap would remain.

Can You Skip the Delta Upgrade Prompt?

Only briefly, if at all. An outdated build can sometimes still connect right after a Roblox release, but once the servers refuse it, an older Delta can't join games. Tapping "Not Now" doesn't change that, because no button keeps an old build joining.

Faking the version number is worse: Roblox detects a spoofed iPhone version and can spot an edited Delta APK. Even a matching build is risky, since Roblox can terminate accounts it detects on a modified client, alts included, and the Delta ban risk breakdown rates each action.

FAQ

Does the Roblox upgrade error mean I'm banned?

No. The upgrade prompt and Error 280 are version checks on the app, while a ban is a separate action taken against your account.

Does a VPN fix Error 280 in Delta?

No. A VPN changes your network route, not the Roblox build inside Delta, so the servers still see an out-of-date app.

Does clearing Roblox's cache fix the upgrade error?

No. Cache and app data hold settings and your login, not the Roblox build, so Delta reports the same old version afterwards. Clearing data also signs you out.

Is the new Delta version real?

Only if its number appears in the Delta row of the version table and in Delta's Discord announcements. Videos named after Roblox's newest build only copy its number: "Delta 2.742" was advertised, yet no real Delta 2.742 ever appeared; the next real build was 2.743.

Will upgrading Delta delete my saved scripts?

Upgrading Delta can delete your saved scripts if you uninstall Delta first, because Android deletes an app's private files on uninstall, and your scripts can go with them. Copy your scripts out before you remove anything, using the steps for keeping Delta scripts after a reinstall.

Is Delta X VNG a different app?

No. Delta X is a nickname for the normal Delta app, so "Delta X VNG" means the same VNG build covered above.

Conclusion

The upgrade prompt and Error 280 come from a version gap, so the only real fix is a Delta build that matches Roblox's current number. Check the version table, wait for the matching build, and install it on an account you can afford to lose. If Delta still fails once the numbers line up, the Delta Executor not working checklist finds what broke next.
